Washington Middle School to hold 2019-2020 Sixth-grade Band Concert
Attention all sixth grade Washington Middle School family members! The Washington Middle School Band will have its first Sixth Grade Concert for this year on Monday, February 3 at 6:00 p.m. The concert will be directed by Patrick Ballew and will take place in the school’s gymnasium.
The students will perform music that they have worked on throughout the beginning of the school year until now. The songs that will be played that evening are located in the book “Essential Elements for Band” by Tim Lautzenheiser. The songs are “The First Note,” “Two’s a Team," "Rolling Along,” "Hot Cross Buns,” "Listen To Our Sections,” "London Bridge,” "A Mozart Melody,” ”Jingle Bells,” "Eighth Note Jam,” and lastly the band will play a classic song, “Go Big Green.”
Important information parents should know is that the students are to show up in a white-collared shirt (long sleeve or short) that will be tucked into their black pants (no jeans), black shoes, and black socks. In addition to the proper attire, students should avoid wearing visible jewelry or hair accessories. Mr. Ballew stated, “My goal is for all the students to look similar.” All students that would not be able to get the proper attire should notify Mr. Ballew by Friday Jan. 17, 2020.
All students are to meet in the band room at 5:00 p.m. before the concert begins. Mr. Ballew generously mentioned that family is the most important audience a child can have. So make sure to invite other family members and friends, free up your schedule, and come enjoy some music played by the 2019-2020 sixth grade Washington Middle School Band!
