Mr. Harold Humphries, Jr., CHS foreign language teacher

Alumnus of:

  • Cairo High School (1995) – French Club member

  • Valdosta State University (2005) - Bachelor of Science in Foreign Language Education

Employed as:

  • Army Medic, 82nd airborne division, including six-month stints in Honduras and Panama (4 years)

  • Brooks County High School teacher (1 year)

  • Pelham Middle School teacher (1 year)

  • Cairo High School Spanish I and II teacher (began fall of 2019)


  • Son of Gloria and Harold Humphries Sr.; attended Shiver Elementary School.

  • Married Zury Rios Rivera in June of 2019; has one son, Edward (17 years), and one daughter, Camila (11 years).

Fun Facts:

  • Has played the guitar for 8 years.

  • Favorite type of music is Blues, including artists ZZ Top, John Lee Hooker, and Eric Clapton.

  • Unwinds by playing board games and backyard football with his family.

What teaching at CHS has taught me:

  • “The [high school] kids are more relaxed and laid-back than middle-schoolers. I like teaching at the high school better.”
