Southwestern State University representative visits CHS
On April 16, 2019, a representative from Southwestern State University came to give students at CHS information on his school. The representative who was sent from the college was Mr. Sid Walker, and he was very informative.
Mr. Walker, who actually attended Southwestern, himself, informed CHS students about the different degrees that could be earned at the school and the different scholarships the school offers.
Southwestern is located in Americus, Georgia, one of the original top-10 cities in the state, and is a four-year school within the University System of Georgia. GSW offers a full range of Bachelor's degree programs, along with selected master's and specialist's degree program's.
Southwestern has also ranked as one the best small school values in the nation. An entrance requirement is a 2.0 GPA, but students with a 3.0 GPA and a minimum 1100 SAT or 22 ACT Composite can qualify for the $1,000 academic "Blue" Georgia Southwestern Promise Scholarship. Additional academic and on-campus housing scholarships can be earned for higher test scores and through applications and interview processes.
Mr. Walker also gave students information on applications and housing. You will need to fill out an online application to apply and pay a one-time application fee. GSW campus housing may be limited, so be sure to check out off-campus student housing within walking distance. This school also has a great safety rate. Sounds like this will not be a bad school to attend, or to at least consider.
