McDonald's bringing back the Shamrock Shake
McDonald's is making the Shamrock Shack available for purchase throughout the U.S. starting Wednesday. According to CNN.com, it has been three years since the shack was sold nationally. McDonald's also selling a McFlurry version with Oreo cookies. CNN.com reports that both drinks are being sold for limited time.
The McDonald's website describes the treat as "Creamy, dreamy vanilla soft serve blended with Shamrock Shake syrup and topped with delicious whipped topping."
The ingredients include Vanilla Reduced Fat Ice Cream, Shamrock Shake Syrup, and Whipped Light Cream. The small contains 460 calories, the medium contains 560, and the large contains 790 calories.
McDonald's first started selling the drink in 1970. Over the years, the burger chain has brought back the original, as well as variations of the shake, like a "Shamrock Sundae" in 1980 and a chocolate version in 2017. It first started selling the item nationally in 2012.
According to CNN.com, people get excited for the Pumpkin Spice or the Shamrock Shake seasons, and they may not actually want the indulgent items all year round.
