eSports information meeting held at Cairo High School

An information session for those interested in participating in eSports this year was held on Friday, September 20 at Cairo High School. This year, the eSports team will be playing "League of Legends" and competing against other schools. Matches will be held on Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m., and Fridays practices will be held after school until 5:00.

The season starts on Oct. 22, 2019. Regular matches will be held weekly for for eight weeks, then the state playoffs will be held.

Here are the dates for the regular matches:

Week 1: Oct, 21, 2019

Week 2: Oct, 28, 2019

Week 3: Nov, 4, 2019

Week 4: Nov, 11, 2019

Week 5: Nov, 18, 2019

Week 6: Dec, 2, 2019

Week 7: Dec, 9, 2019

Week 8: Dec, 16, 2019

Practices and regular matches will be held in the InTech Lab (by Guidance).

According to PlayVs, the company chosen by Georgia High School Association (GHSA) to oversee eSports here in Georgia, eSports "Officially stands of electronic sports, not to be confused to video games. It's way more then that, what sets it apart is the level of organized competitive gameplaybetween teams and it's own strict set of rules and guidelines. eSports is about teamwork, communication, strategic thinking and leadership."
