Counseling Department hosts Mental Health Awareness Day

On Wednesday, May 11, the school counselors hosted a Mental Health Awareness event in the CHS Commons Area during all three lunches.

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness month, which according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), was created to " fight stigma, provide support, educate the public, and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families."

The counseling department set up a table outside where they met with many students. Students then wrote their names on a poster board. The counseling department wanted to bring and activity to bring awareness to mental health

The counseling department said, "We want you all to know that there are people on this campus who care a lot about you."
