Cast of Spring Musical 'You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown' announced
"You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" opens Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m. with an additional performance that evening at 7 p.m. The final performance will be on Sunday, May 3, at 2 p.m. Admission for all performances is free.
Below is the cast of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." All are CHS students, with the exception of Kayleigh Hester, who is a student at Whigham School. Other "Peanuts" characters will be played by an ensemble cast of students from Cairo High School, Washington Middle School, and Eastside Elementary.
In addition to Director Ms. Landrie Bock, Music Director Ms. Erikka Edwards, and Choreographer Mrs. Hannah Russell, the technical staff includes Ansley Ponder as Stage Manager; Hannah Barber as Assistant Stage Manager; Kyle Boyett as Sound Board Operator; Aurora Clouner as Sound Assistant; Georgia Taylor as Light Board Operator; Alondra Ortiz as Props Designer; Marisol Gaspar-Orozco as Costume Assistant; and Jonathan Bynum, Eddie Connell, and Camille Dukes as Back Stage Crew.
The CHS Theatre department will be collaborating once again with Mr. David Coleman, Drafting instructor at CHS, whose students will be designing the set for the musical. According to Mr. Coleman, "The opportunity to collaborate with the Theatre department again furthers Cairo High's mission of preparing our students to graduate and be fully equipped for post-secondary education and/or careers."
In addition, Mr. Yancy Burkes' Construction classes will be building the set designed by Mr. Coleman's students.
Ms. Bock said that she "is thrilled to collaborate with other departments" at CHS:
"As our Theatre department grows, our students gain invaluable knowledge of theatre, the arts, and life skills that can propel them into college, technical school, or a career."
"Meaningful collaboration promotes the building of peer relationship, fosters peer interactions and enables then to understand different perspectives," Principal Chris Lokey stated.
Rehearsals are currently being held after school on Wednesdays from 3:30-5 p.m.
