Cairo Christmas Parade Preview 2021: 'Christmas in Grady Land'
Get in the holiday spirit with this year's annual Cairo Christmas Parade, which will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, in downtown Cairo. The theme of this year's parade is "Christmas in Grady Land," a spin on the popular children's board game, "Candy Land."
If it's your first time attending the Cairo Christmas Parade, you can expect to be treated to lots of festive Christmas music while enjoying the many decorated floats, trailers, and even horses. There will also be hot chocolate and snacks available. According to visitgradycounty.com, the parade is "one of the largest Christmas parades in South Georgia."
The parade will begin at the Chamber of Commerce and continue along South Broad Street, ending at the First Methodist Church. This year, there will be 91 entries, including many clubs and organizations from Cairo High School and other Grady County schools:
Leading the parade this year will be the CHS JROTC program, followed later on by the Grady County Middle School Band; the Washington Middle School Cheerleaders and 7th grade football team; Shiver School; Eastside Elementary School; Whigham School and Whigham Cheerleaders; and the Cairo High School Chorus, R&B Dance Team, Marching Syrupmaker Band, and Cheerleaders.
Closing the parade once again will be Santa, who will be passing out candy to the children in attendance.

Following the parade, on Saturday, December 4, the 6th annual Mistletoe Market will be held in downtown Cairo from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
"The local shops will be having sales plus artisans and craftspeople will be on hand to sell handcrafted items just in time for Christmas. There will also be delicious food and entertainment," according to The Thomasville Times-Enterprise.
