Artist Review: Taylor Swift
After being the youngest signer in history for the Sony/ATV publishing company at the young age of 14, receiving over 30 American Music awards, 23 Billboard Music Awards, and 10 Grammys, it's safe to say Taylor Swift is one of the most successful music artists of our time.
Taylor's passion for writing music started when she was only 12 years old. A couple years later, Taylor moved to Nashville, Tenn. to start her country music career. In Nashville, Taylor piqued CEO of Big Machine Records, Scott Borchetta's interest at a performance at the "Bluebird Café." Scott signed Taylor to a deal immediately, kickstarting her career.
The following year in 2006 Taylor published her first album titled "Taylor Swift" which sold more than 5 million copies.
Since then Taylor has produced 8 more albums including "Fearless," "Speak Now," "Red," "1989," (her first pop album) "Reputation," "Lover," "Folklore," and "Evermore," along with many singles. These albums and singles have won Taylor countless fans and many awards.
Recently, Taylor has been working on re-recording all of her albums up to "Reputation" after they were sold out from under her ownership. Taylor is adding "(Taylor's Version)" to the title of these albums and songs, indicating they are hers. In the re-recorded albums Taylor has also added songs "from the vault" that were written but never published.
Taylor's music and instrumentals include piano, guitar, banjo, ukulele, and of course, vocals.
From country to pop, Taylor Swift can do it all (too well). Her music is poetic, emotional, and real. I love listening to all of her albums and hearing the growth she has made as a musician and human-being. I also love the generous impact Taylor has made by adamantly promoting and donating to sexual assault organizations and fans in need. Taylor Swift is an inspiring female, role model, and icon.
