Art Club items currently on sale at CHS, local business
The Art Club is currently selling hand-made and unique wood ornaments, metal signs, bird houses, wooden carved Christmas trees and much more. All items will be sold at Cairo High School in the Art room and at Junque in the Trunk Vintage Market in Thomasville.
Wooden ornaments are $5 dollars, wooden Christmas trees and bird houses are $25 dollars, and the metal signs are $75 dollars. The signs can be cut into team logos, symbols, or anything else a customer prefers. The ornaments are custom made and hand made by art students: “They take on a variety of commissioned work from paintings to signs. There is really no limit to what they can do here at CHS!” Art teacher Mr. Scott Easom said. The Art Club is also collaborating with the welding and construction departments to create the other items for sale.
Junque in the Trunk Vintage Market opened in nearby Thomasville in May 2020 and has been displaying CHS students' artwork for sale since the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester. CHS is currently the only school with items for sale there. Items that are currently for sale include round, metal signs with college logos, such as UGA and Florida; wooden Christmas trees decorations; cutting boards; a clock; and wood paintings and wood burnings.
The owner of the store recently told the Red & Black that our students work, especially the wooden paintings, are popular with her customers: “We’ve sold a pretty good bit,” she said. She plans to continue to offer students' work for sale as long as Mr. Easom, who also has his own work for sale there, brings them to the store.
Mr. Easom also said that the club recently raised an additional $200 by selling student artwork at the Bainbridge Firehouse Gallery. According to Mr. Easom, the gallery is an upscale variety store that has lots of different items for sale by local artists, as well as CHS art students from time-to-time.
