Murray State vs. FSU hoops tournament preview
On Thursday, March 21, 2019, Murray State and Marquette faced off in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Ja Morant of Murray State and Markus Howard were the players to watch coming into the game.
In the end, Murray State would come out on top, with a stellar performance from Morant, who recorded a triple double for the third time this season (17 points, 16 assists, and 11 rebounds). This was the first triple double in the NCAA tournament since 2012, according to ESPN. That aslo made Morant just the fifth player in the past 20 seasons to record three or more triple doubles in a season.
This Saturday, Murray State faces Florida State University in the second round of the NCAA tournament. FSU pulled out a win against Vermont but struggled throughout the game. Although they capitalized on their free throws, making 31 of 37, FSU struggled from beyond the arc, where they were just 3 for 12.
Murray State's defense is ranked third in the nation against the three and will look to stop FSU from the outside. The Racers should look to move the ball around and keep their high scoring going, as FSU has no weak defense either. Florida State has the tools to beat Murray State, but anything can happen in March.
Tune in Saturday to see what will go down in this match-up between the two teams.
