Atlanta restaurant to host 'Bird Box' dinner
An Atlanta restaurant has brought a new twist to the idea of a blind date.
The Netflix film "Bird Box" was released in 2018 and was based on the book by the same name, written by Josh Malerman. "Bird Box" is a film that follows a woman, played by Sandra Bullock, who is joined by a pair of children, named Boy and Girl, who undergo a difficult journey. The group must make it through a forest and river while being blindfolded to avoid seeing a supernatural existence.
On Eastside Beltline Street in Atlanta, the restaurant Guac y Margys, a taco and margarita joint, is hosting a "Bird Box Dinner." The event will give customers the opportunity to recreate the experience of Sandra Bullocks' character in the movie.
According to the AJC, an event listing states, "You've seen ‘Bird Box.’ You may have even put a blindfold on to see how hard it is to walk around your house and yard (we don't recommend this). But have you eaten tacos and drank margaritas while blindfolded? No? Well now's your chance!"
According to Delish, "The early bird tickets are sold out, so now you can pay $30 for a general admission ticket." The general admission ticket includes two tacos, a dip, and a margarita. However the restaurant chooses what flavors you receive, and if you guess the correct types of tacos and margarita, you receive a free homemade cookie for dessert.
The event will occur on January 24, 2019, and the general admission tickets will stop selling January 23. Guac y Margys will only be selling 42 tickets for the event, "if tickets aren't sold out yet, there will be "Late Bird" tickets for $35 (plus a fee) on the day of the event."
