Grady Chamber seeking award nominations for 2019 Chamber Awards
The Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce is seeking public nominations for the 2019 Chamber Awards. Anyone who would like to submit nominations for any of the seven award categories can do so at cairogachamber.com or on the Chamber’s Facebook page, before January 4, 2019.
The Chamber Award's purpose is to recognize outstanding citizens in the community who have contributed toward Cairo's success over the past year. The awards will be presented to the winners at the chamber’s annual banquet on Jan. 31, 2019.
Nominations are defined as brief essays that should describe why the candidate chosen is worthy of the award. Chamber Executive Director Trey Gainous stated, when it comes to judging the candidates, the quality of the nomination essays will be given more weight than the quantity.
Award categories this year include Large and Small Business of the Year, Man and Woman of the Year, Young Professional of the Year, Community Service Professional of the Year, and Farm Family of the Year. All people in the community are encouraged to make nominations for any of the categories except for Large and Small Business of the Year, which must be nominated by Chamber members.
Large and Small Business of the Year pertain to companies that have more than or fewer than 100 employees who have demonstrated “visible growth and achievements, adhere to their company brand, and make a positive community impact.”
Man and Woman of the Year are awarded to “inspiring” individuals involved in work that positively contributes to the success of their business and the county.
Young Professional of the Year is given to individuals 40 years old or younger who have demonstrated “high-minded self-sacrifice both within their profession and in community activities.”
The Community Service Professional of the Year should be an individual who, “by acts of citizenship and involvement in the community,” has positively impacted the the county outside of their regular line of work.
Farm Family of the Year is awarded based on a family’s “contributions to farming, their community, and to fellow citizens.”
