Bainbridge hosts first Jingle Bell Jog and toy drive

On Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, the Bainbridge-Decatur County Recreation Authority in collaboration with Anytime Fitness and the West Haven will be hosting a Jingle Bell Jog and toy drive.

The jog will trail through the Lights along the River at the Earle Mae Boat Basin Park and have a variety of different options for families.

Runners can choose between the 5K, the one-mile run, the kid run or the family fun run.

The 5K run is for ages 10 and up, the one-mile run is for ages 10-17, the kid run is for children ages 6-9, and the family fun run is for all ages.

According to the Post Searchlight, "Each division will have an ugly sweater contest; they are encouraging all participants to wear their ugliest sweater to run in and families to coordinate as the family run participants also have a chance to win most festive family."

A family of four costs $18; the cost for each additional child is $5. The kid run costs $8 per child, the 5K costs $15, and the one mile run costs $12. T-shirts will also be available for $10.

This event will be one for your whole family to enjoy, as Santa will lead the family run, and cookies and hot cocoa will be available after. Kids will even be able to give their letters to Santa if they would like.

Children are asked to donate a toy to the West Haven on the day of the event. All the toys collected will benefit fostered and underprivileged children in there area.

Check-in will be from 2-5:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts building on the day of the event, with the first run starting at 6 p.m.

The Recreation Authority is hoping to see everyone there and make this a race to remember.
