First 'Avengers 4: Endgame' trailer revealed

Word from Marvel Studios regarding the new "Avengers" title had been stagnant until the release of the first teaser trailer just a few days ago.

The trailer reveals quite a lot and provides viewers with some of the missing information left behind from previous Marvel films, more specifically "Ant-man and the Wasp" and "Captain America: Civil War."

In the last film, it was up to the cast of heroes to stop the Mad Titan Thanos from collecting all of the Infinity Stones - ancient stones that once collected have the ability to eliminate half of the universe. In the end, he accomplishes his goal, leading to the death of much of the cast, such as Spider-Man, Black Panther, Star Lord, and Dr. Strange, who before his death and unknown to the audience, announced the title for the next film with the line, "We're in the endgame now."

Marvel's next film, "Captain Marvel," will hopefully solve some of the questions that many fans have leading up to the April release of "Endgame," such as, "How exactly will Captain Marvel help resolve 'Infinity War''s, heartbreaking ending?"

The trailer reveals the return of characters such as Antman (Scott Lang), who was last seen trapped in the "Quantum Realm," a space that Scott goes into when he shrinks between molecules, and Hawkeye (Clint Barton), who was last seen at the end of "Captain America: Civil War" and presumed dead by much of the fan-base after the events of "Infinity War."

Fans have been speculating for months about how the new film will end, and Business Insider has compiled a list of some of the theories:

1) Loki faked his death again.

Throughout the Marvel movies in which the trickster god plays a role, it is a common theme for him to fake his death in order to save his own skin. Fans speculate that he never actually died at the hands of Thanos during the opening of "Infinity War," but rather faked his death and will possibly make a return in the next film.

2) Gamora is in the Soul Stone

This theory is so popular among fans because in order to claim the soul stone, Thanos had to sacrifice a soul: his adoptive daughter, Gamora. Then, after wiping out half of the universe with the snap, Thanos is placed in a dream-like state where he sees Gamora as a child. Fans speculate that he was seeing Gamora in the stone, and that the rest of the heroes were placed in the stone rather than being permanently killed off.

3) Captain America Dies

Before the release of "Infinity War," fans predicted that the famous WW2 hero would die at the hands of Thanos, but seeing as that he survived, fans are now speculating his death for the upcoming film.

According to Business Insider, "Of all the original Avengers, Captain America's death would make the most sense. The actor Chris Evans has implied that he is ready to retire from the role after 'Avengers 4.' The character died in the comic books after the events of the 'Civil War' comic, so it wouldn't be a stretch for Cap to perish."

It should also be added that his death was foreshadowed in "Infinity War" when debating the choice of sacrificing another hero, Vision: Cap firmly said no with the quote, "We don't trade lives." Fans noted that the only life that he would be willing to trade is his own.

Fans on Twitter have theorized that he will be reunited with his love interest, Peggy Carter, during the events of "Endgame," creating the perfect end for the beloved hero.

4) Time Travel reverses the snap

One of the more obvious theories is that the cast of heroes will somehow find a way to recover the Time Stone and reverse all of the damage done by Thanos or use the Quantum Realm to travel back in time to stop the infamous snap from occurring.

Below is the first official teaser trailer for "Avengers: Endgame," which will be released on April 26, 2019:
