25 of the most anticipated movies of 2019

Box offices world-wide have had an incredible 2018 year, grossing roughly 9 billion dollars in the U.S. alone. As this year comes to a close, movie goers are already getting hyped up for what the 2019 year has in store. Certain blockbusters, such as "Spiderman: Far From Home" and the still untitled "Avengers" film, have been promoted for months now in order to get fans excited. Below is a list and short synopsis of 25 of the most anticipated films releasing next year (in no particular order).

1. Untitled "Avengers 4" - The plot is yet to be revealed, however, it will be the fourth installment of the "Avengers" series and will pick up where "Infinity War" left off.

2. "Captain Marvel" - Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when she discovers her powers and has to protect Earth from a galactic war. It will partially serve as a prequel to the upcoming "Avengers 4" film.

3. "The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part" - Five years have passed since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than the master-builders can rebuild.

4. "Shazam!" - When a young boy, Billy Bateson, shouts the word "shazam" he is able to turn into the adult superhero Shazam, based on the DC comics.

5. "Pet Sematary" - In this chilling Stephen King adaptation, Louis Creed, his wife Rachel and their two children Gage and Ellie move to a rural home where they are enlightened about the eerie Pet Sematary located near their home. After the tragedy of their cat being killed by a truck, Louis resorts to burying it in the mysterious pet cemetery, which is definitely not as it seems, as it proves to the Creeds that sometimes, dead is better.

6. "Hellboy" - Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy is caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human and will battle an ancient sorceress bent on revenge. The film stars David Harbour as Hellboy, who is most notably known for his role as Chief Jim Hopper in Netflix's Stranger Things.

7. "Glass" - Security guard David Dunn uses his supernatural abilities to track Kevin Wendell Crumb, a disturbed man who has twenty-four personalities. This film joins together storylines from three different M. Night Shamalan movies.

8. "Detective Pikachu" - In a world where people collect pocket monsters (Pokémon) to battle, a boy comes across an intelligent monster who seeks to be a detective. This stars Ryan Renolds, who is most notably known for his role in "Deadpool."

9. "John Wick: Chapter 3" - This will be the third installment of incredibly succesful "John Wick" series. The plot takes place after the events of "John Wick: Chapter 2."

10. "Aladdin" - This film is a live-action retelling of the 1992 Disney film of the same name.

11. "Godzilla: King of Monsters" - The crypto-zoological agency "Monarch" faces off against a battery of giant monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.

12. "Dark Pheonix" - Jean Grey begins to develop incredible powers that corrupt and turn her into a Dark Phoenix. Now the X-Men will have to decide if the life of a team member is worth more than the world's population.

13. Untitled "Men in Black" spinoff - The plot and title have been kept under wraps for now but will serve as an additionl to the original Men in Black trilogy, starring Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith. However, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are playing the main roles in this one.

14. "Toy Story 4" - In the tear-jerking fourth installment of the "Toy Story" franchise, a new toy called "Forky" joins Woody and the gang on a road trip alongside old and new friends and reveals how big the world can be for a toy.

15. "Spiderman: Far From Home" - After the events of the untitled Avengers film Peter Parker and his friends go on summer vacation to Europe. There Peter finds himself trying to save his friends against a villain known as Mysterio. This film will once again starring Tom Holland as Spiderman.

16. "The Lion King" - This CGI and live-action remake is a stellar re-imagining of the 1994 Disney classic.

17. "IT: Chapter 2" - The story takes place 27 years after the events of 2017's "IT." The Losers Club have grown up and moved away, until a devastating phone call brings them back to Derry Maine, where they will once again have to face the terrifying demonic clown, Pennywise.

18. "Joker" - The plot is kept tightly under wraps for now, however, the story will center on how the popular comic book villain known as The Joker came to be. Joaquin Pheonix has been cast as the joker, replacing Jared Leto who starred as a different version of the character in 2016's Suicide Squad.

20. "You Are My Friend" - This film follows the story of Fred Rogers, the honored host and creator of the popular children's television program, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (1968).

21. "Death on the Nile" - In the sequel to 2017's "Murder on the Oriental Express," detective Hercule Poirot enjoys a luxurious cruise down the Nile where a newlywed heiress is found murdered on board.

22. "Kingsman 3" - While the plot is unknown, this will be the third installment in the "Kingsman" franchise.

23. "Frozen 2" - The plot is unknown at this point but will be a sequel to Walt Disney's 2013 film, "Frozen."

24. "Jumanji 2" - The plot is unknown as of now but will be a sequel to 2017's "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle."

25. "Star Wars: Episode IX" - The epic conclusion to the new 'Star Wars' trilogy which began in 2015 with "The Force Awakens."
