Three foods that can lower your risk of diabetes

Blood sugar is the concentration of glucose in the blood. Three foods that can lower your blood sugar are avocado, chia seeds, and coffee.

People usually eat avocado in a salad or guacamole, but did you know it lowers your blood sugar? According to healthline, "Studies have shown avocados can lower the risk of metabolic syndrome. This is a group of risk factors that can increase the risk of diabetes. It can also raise the risk of blood vessel disease like heart disease and stroke." This shows avocado can lower your chance of having diabetes and other serious conditions.

Chia seeds are the edible seeds of Salvia hispanica, a flowering plant in the mint family native to Central America, or of the related Salvia columbariae of the southwestern United States and Mexico. The chia plant can lower your blood sugar. According to draxe.com, "One animal model in the British Journal of Nutrition even found that adding chia seeds to a high-sugar diet prevented changes in blood sugar and lipid levels. What’s more, human studies have also found that adding chia seeds to white bread reduces the glycemic response to prevent spikes and crashes in blood sugar levels."

Most people drink coffee in the morning for energy, but did you know it can reduce your risk of developing diabetes? According to www.mayoclinic.org, "Some studies suggest that drinking coffee, caffeinated and decaffeinated, may actually reduce your risk of developing diabetes. If you already have diabetes, however, the impact of caffeine on insulin action may be associated with higher or lower blood sugar levels."
