ECE class holding Pumpkin Painting Contest based on children's books

Mrs. Candace Childs's Early Childhood Education III class at CHS is currently holding a Pumpkin Painting Contest. The pumpkins are located in the media center, and it costs one penny to vote for your favorite.

According to Media Specialist Mrs. Debbie Childs, "The pumpkin with the most money, wins the contest! Mrs. C. Childs will use all money raised for an FCCLA Club project to help survivors of the hurricane disaster."

The contest has been going on since Monday, October 29 and will continue until Thursday, November 1. The winner will be announced on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018.

The paintings on the pumpkins are based on children's books. Before the contest, Mrs. Childs's class had been learning about language and literacy, so Mrs. Childs thought it would be an awesome way to mix in language, literacy, and Halloween together. The students had the choice to pick their favorite children book.

The pumpkins were donated by Mrs. Childs, herself, and the media center staff. Mrs. Debbie Childs said that teachers may bring their students over this week to vote for their favorite designs.
