NBA stars likely to be traded

Kawhi Leonard, who was a former small forward for the San Antonio Spurs, was traded in July 2018 to the Toronto Raptors, right before he was set to become a free agent.

The defensive wizard was traded from the Spurs to the Raptors for All-Star shooting guard Demar Derozan and center Jakob Poeltl.

There are superstar players who are becoming free agents in the coming seasons. Most of them are on teams that are good until the playoffs, while others are stuck on teams that have too much talent. Not everyone will be happy.

Point guard Damian Lillard of the Trailblazers should continue this string of superstar players being traded. Lillard is on a Portland team that got swept in the first round of the playoffs during the 2017-2018 season. Although he is the leader of the team, he struggled in the four games he played. The lack of talent around him also was obvious. Lillard isn’t a free agent until 2021, but he has made remarks over the past few months that have stirred rumors.

According to Bleacher Report, when a fan asked him if he would be okay playing with LeBron James on the Lakers, Lillard replied, “I’m typically a happy camper.”

This season will be interesting for Portland, as the team has had sub-par success the last few seasons.

Shooting guard Jimmy Butler of the Minnesota Timberwolves will be a free agent in 2019. Butler has come out and said that he doesn’t like the nonchalant attitudes of his young teammates Andrew Wiggins and Karl Towns. Butler has already stated that he wants to play with All Stars Kyrie Irving and LeBron James, as well. So if Minnesota doesn’t trade him this season, expect Butler in a new uniform when the 2019 season starts.
