Missing college Student Mollie Tibbetts’ body found
Mollie Tibbets, a college student from Iowa, went missing on July 18, 2018. She was last seen alive jogging early in the morning. Mollie's family last saw her when Mollie's brother dropped her off at her boyfriend's house.
Her parents were worried on July 18 because she didn't return home. She was reported missing the following day. Investigators used her digital footprint to pinpoint her location. According to sources, there were five possible locations she could’ve died. According to the BBC, those places are “a car wash, two local farms, a truck stop, and her boyfriend's home.”
Officials found Mollie Tibbets’ body on August 21, 2018. Mollie had been missing for slightly more than a month. She was last seen July 18 in Brooklyn jogging wearing a black sports bra and black NIKE jogging pants. The following day her body was found in a Poweshiek County cornfield; the man believed to have killed her is 24 year old illegal immigrant Christhian Rivera.
Christhian Rivera said that he was a four-year employee of Yarrabee Farms but would not state the name of who employed him. He also has no legal records stating he is a U.S citizen or that he ever entered America in the first place. Yarrabee Farms released a statement about this incident, stating that "This individual has worked at our farms for four years, was vetted through the government's E-Verify system, and was an employee in good standing. On Monday, the authorities visited our farm and talked to our employees. We have cooperated fully with their investigation."
According to USA Today, “Tibbetts was last seen on surveillance footage running along Boundary and Middle Streets in her hometown Brooklyn, Iowa, about 70 miles east of Des Moines. Rivera allegedly followed her…Rivera parked his car and started running alongside and behind Tibbetts. She pulled out a cellphone and said she would call the police. Rivera told police he panicked and got mad, and then ‘blocked’ his memory, becoming aware while at the driveway of a cornfield that he had placed a woman in his trunk…Rivera dragged the woman to an isolated area in the cornfield, he told police, then covered her body with corn leaves and drove away. After officials identified his vehicle in surveillance footage, he complied with law enforcement and led them to the body.”
This info was released on August 21, 2018.
President Trump had alluded to this at rally in West-Virginia: “You heard about today with the illegal alien coming in, very sadly, from Mexico and you saw what happened to that incredible, beautiful young woman,” he said while shaking his head. “Should’ve never happened.”
