CollegeMakers upcoming events for students

Are you ready for college? Do you have a plan on what you’re going to do after high school? CHS introduces the CollegeMakers. The talent search for CollegeMakers is funded through the Department of Education Trio Initiatives. The CollegeMakers help you plan out your future and give college tours. To sign up for the CollegeMakers, talk to your guidance counselors or register in the CollegeMakers office (room 201) in CHS's College and Career Center (new building).

The next upcoming event will be held this Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 8:30 -11:00 a.m, when they will host a free SAT/ACT test prep for CHS students. Since the test-prep session will be held early in the morning, breakfast will be provided. The test- prep teaches test-taking strategies, study advice, and offers an actual practice test, according to an official CollegeMakers flier for the event. Everyone will meet in the front office, and participants will be separated into different groups, with all the different teachers helping. Any students interested in participating in the session must be signed up for the CollegeMakers to participate in the test prep. To sign up to be in the CollegeMakers, students must have their parents fill out the CollegeMakers form. These forms were given out to each student on the first day of school, but students get also get them in guidance.

Next, on September 7, at 9:00 a.m. the CollegeMakers will be taking a group of students to the PROBE college fair. The fair will be held at ASU in Albany, Ga. At this fair, many representatives from different colleges will come from all around Georgia to give students information on their colleges, and what's required to enroll there.

Finally, on August 30 at 9:30, there will be an ABAC campus tour for all students interested. On September 11, there will be the ASU campus tour, as well.

All trips are free and will help students move one step forward into their future.
