Atlanta Falcons 2018 Season Preview
2017 for the Falcons ended with a loss to the Eagles in the Divisional round of the playoffs. But now the team is looking ahead to the 2018 season. During the 2018 NFL Draft Atlanta took Calvin Ridley out of Alabama with their first pick. According to AXS, he is the best receiver in the class. Ridley will compliment Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu as the 3rd option. His quickness and hands will make him a threat from the go. Matt Ryan should have a great 2018 season. He has the talent in the air and a good ground game to count on. Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman are solid runners who can take pressure off Ryan.
Aside from offense, the Falcons defense is solid. In spite of losing two key players (defensive linemen Dontari Poe and Adrian Clayborn), they have still stars in Deion Jones and Vic Beasley. Beasley led the league in sacks, and Jones was named to the Pro Bowl in 2017. In the secondary, Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen will return at Free Safety and Strong Safety. Neal recorded 116 tackles and 3 forced fumbles; he will be a threat at safety again in 2018. At Corner, Desmond Trufant is the leader and should have another solid season. Rookie Isaiah Oliver should help the team but also should improve his rookie year. Oliver would usually play press coverage in college. He should look to improve his ability to play off man coverage and zone.
According to Athlon Sports, the Falcons have one of the easiest schedules in 2018, so expect the team to have 10-plus wins and a solid playoff run.
