Tallahassee man arrested for hit and run
On May 1, 2018, the Tallahassee police department was informed about a man who fled the scene after hitting a victim in a parking lot. The parking lot was located on "2000 block of West Pensacola Street," according to WCTV.
The victim of the hit and run took a picture of the suspect's vehicle, which was traced to a black SUV. The police later made contact with the suspect and identified him as Brad Gathers. "While looking at the car, officers noticed the wood handle of a rifle under the driver's seat," according to WTXL.
When the officers finished searching the car, they found a AK-47 rifle. The rifle was fully loaded with a drum-designed magazine and gloves under it. "The tag on Gathers' vehicle was also reported as stolen," according to WTXL. Gathers' vehicle was rented to him and was supposed to have a different tag on it.
"Gathers was arrested for petty theft, leaving the scene of a crash, and possession of a firearm by a convicted Florida felon," according to WCTV. The suspect is now in Leon County Detention Facility and is being held in on a $100,500 bond.
