Deadly Canadian bus crash kills 15 people
On Friday April 6, 2018, in Saskatchewan Canada, a deadly bus crash occurred which the small community will never forget.
On Friday evening, a bus carrying a junior hockey team collided with a semi-truck.
A full list of those who died in the crash has been released.
Ten Humboldt Broncos players and five others, including two coaches died.
Among those who died was Jaxon Joseph. Joseph is the son of former Pittsburgh Penguins player Chris Joseph. Joseph was only 20 years old.
The Pittsburgh Penguins team expressed their sadness on Twitter. The tweet said, "We offer our heartfelt condolences to Pittsburgh Penguins alumnus Chris Joseph, whose son, Jaxon, was among those who tragically passed away in the Humboldt Broncos bus accident."
Here is a list of the players and their jersey numbers who died: Jaxon Joseph, 10; Logan Schatz, 20; Adam Herold, 16; Connor Lukan, 21; Evan Thomas, 18; Jacob Leicht, 19; Logan Boulet, 21; Logan Hunter, 18; and Stephen Wack, 21; Parker Tobin, 30.
Head coach Darcy Haugan, Assistant coach Mark Cross, play-by-play announcers Tyler Bieber and Brody Hinz, and the bus driver Glen Doerksen also died in the accident.
According to CNN, “The crash occurred around 5 p.m. Friday north of Tisdale, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, as the team was headed for the town of Nipawin for a playoff game. RCMP Assistant Commissioner Curtis Zablocki said the tractor-trailer, traveling west on Highway 335, collided with the bus, which was traveling north on Highway 35."
