Madewell introduces extended jean sizes, 'in-between' models

Starting Jan. 23, 2017, Madewell introduced its new "in-between" models and the extended jean sizes. The jean sizes go up to women's waist size 35, and the retailer showed off their new Curvy fit for their bestselling skinny jeans. The previous sizes went up to size 32, or size 14, according to Madewell's size chart.

The new models wear sizes between six and 12. Not many companies highlight these sizes in the modelling category. It is actually considered a "blind spot" in marketing. Showing off these sizes is very beneficial to the fashion industry by showing off what different jean sizes would look like on all types of American women, according to Fox News.

“Madewell is committed to creating denim for everyone, and we aim to reflect this in our product and imagery. We’re also continuing to expand our size range, fits, and styles, so all of our customers can find exactly what they are looking for,” a company spokesperson said. “We have customers of all shapes and sizes, and it’s incredibly important to us that our models and brand imagery reflects that.”

Madewell is a company based out of Lynchburg, Va. Not only is the company online based, but they also have store fronts across the nation.
