Woman killed in a Valdosta crash involving log truck
On the early morning of Jan. 15, 2018, in Valdosta, Ga., the driver of a pickup truck was killed when her vehicle was hit by a log truck.
According to WCTV, “34-year-old Kimberly Ann Poythress of Homerville, Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.”
According to Georgia State Patrol, “Poythress was driving south on Boring Pond Road around 7:55 a.m. Monday when she ran a stop sign at the intersection of New Statenville Hwy. GSP says a log truck traveling on New Statenville Hwy collided with Poythress' vehicle.”
A log truck driving on the same high-way collided with Poythress's pickup truck. The log truck caught fire after it overturned. Poythress’ pickup truck rotated off the roadway into a ditch.
According to WCTV, “The driver of the log truck, 58-year-old Henry Harris Robinson of Jennings, Florida, was able to escape serious injury by crawling out the rear window. He was transported to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment of head injuries.”
State Patrol says “no charges are expected to be filed.”
