Avocados contain a high amount of protein, which helps give you balanced, lean muscle mass and burn fat. They can even promote healthy vision due to the amount of antioxidants which help protect the eyes and a healthy immune system.
Avocados contain mostly monounsaturated fats, which help benefit your health, similar to many nuts and healthy oils. Avocado oil, used for cooking, has healthier fats than normal oils which contain more saturated fats.
According to CNN, 80% of the American avocado supply comes from Mexico. These avocados can be used in a variety of foods and recipes to benefit your health, including pasta sauce, smoothies, and toast.
Even though there are a high number of calories in avocados, there can be weighted portion slices that don’t include as many calories for your meals that include avocados. Having a layer of avocado on a piece of toast, for example, is about the amount of avocado that should be consumed in a serving.
