10 year anniversary of popular indie albums

2017 marks the 10 year anniversary of some well-known indie albums, such as Spoon's album "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga," Modest Mouse's album "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank,' and The Shins' album "Wincing the Night Away."

Having never listened to indie pop from this period, I decided to experiment by listening to these albums for the first time and sharing my overall impressions. I've also provided background information for each album.

Spoon's album "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" was released on July 7, 2007 and hit top charts quite quickly, reaching number ten. Much about this album was unusual to me. The beat and the overall story the songs tell are completely different from any of today's music. The album as a whole intrigued me and I really enjoyed listening to it. The songs that I would recommend from this album are "The Underdog" and "You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb."

"We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" is an album released by the popular band Modest Mouse. This album was released March 20, 2007 and peaked at number one on both Billboard and CMJ. I really enjoyed this album's erratic rhythm, beat, and singing technique. The songs in this album are completely different from any kind of music I've heard, and the album presents itself as something new and different. In my opinion, the first song on the album, "March Into the Sea," is strangely enjoyable.

The Shins album, "Wincing the Night Away," was their third album, which was released on January 23, 2007. The songs on this album were unusual to me because of the types of instruments incorporated into the songs, as well as the lyrics and how they were sung. Overall, I did enjoy listening to the album, and some songs I would recommend would be "Phantom Limb" and "Australia."
