Tesla sports car may be able to fly
Elon Musk, the co-founder, CEO, and Product Architect at Tesla, has mentioned that the Tesla Roadster may be able to fly. A special upgrade package could be available to purchase that would make the car able to fly in short hops, Elon Musk explained in a tweet.
According to CNBC, Musk admitted the practical challenges of a flying car during a TED Talk in April 2017. “There is a challenge with flying cars in that they'll be quite noisy, the wind force generated will be very high,” Musk said in the TED Talk. Rocket technology will most likely be used to make the car fly, multiple sources reported, and the rocket technology will also create a risk.
The Roadster will be able to go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 1.9 seconds, which will make it the fastest accelerating production car ever made, multiple sources reported. CNN reported the car’s acceleration from zero to 60 miles per hour beats the fastest accelerated car right now by half a second.
Initial units of the car are scheduled to be released in the year 2020, and each car will cost an average of $250,000, USA Today reported. The price of the special upgrade package that could enable the car to fly has not been released.
