The best and worst times to travel during Thanksgiving

During Thanksgiving, many will be travelling home or from home to see family and friends. This means roads will be overly crowded, especially in big cities. To get ahead of the traffic snafus, Waze, the traffic and navigation app, gave its opinion on when the busiest travel times will be.

The company looked at more than 90 million active users and how they drove during the season in 2016, according to Terry Wei, who spoke to Fox News.

Waze believes November 21 at five p.m., two days before Thanksgiving, will be the worst time to head home. Wei says that time will be worst for travelers all around the country. After Thanksgiving, Waze thinks 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, November 27 will be bad, as well.

“But we also see a spike of mid-day travel on Sunday, with the worst traffic at 2pm,” the company notes.

According to Business Insider, the best time to leave is at 6 a.m. on Sunday November 19, and the best time to come home is on that next Friday, November 24. If you're flying, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the worst time to fly, so make plans to travel on Thanksgiving day instead. Business Insider also suggests flying home on Monday of the following week.
