Game Preview: Cairo vs Burke

The Cairo High School varsity football team will be playing its second round playoff game against the Burke County Bears. The game will begin tomorrow, Nov. 17, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., at the Bears' stadium in Waynesboro, Ga.

The Syrupmakers currently have a state rank of 113 and an overall record of 8-3 (6-1 in the region); meanwhile, the Bears have a state rank of 40 overall and a huge winning streak due to their undefeated 11-0 (5-0 region) record.

The Bears defense is allowing an average of 13 points per game to opposing offenses this season, but their offense has averaged 41 points per game, according to the Georgia High School Football Historians Association. Meanwhile, our Syrupmakers have scored an average of 25 points per game, while allowing an average of 19 points per game on defense.

Based on these numbers, the Syrupmakers will have to bring everything they have to beat the Burke County Bears. The Bears have a great offense, so our defense will have to step up and hold back the Bears from making touchdowns. This is a Syrupmakers team that has gotten better as the year has gone by, and they are confident that they are up to the task.
