Tallahassee man accused in deadly shooting released from hospital
On Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, 24-year-old Calvin Holiday was released from a Tallahassee hospital and booked into the Leon County Sheriffs Office later that day. He was being treated for gunshot wounds suffered in an incident which left one man dead and another injured.
According to WCTV, "Last week, Holiday was charged with second degree murder and attempted first degree murder for the September 24 shooting that killed 40-year-old Taris Nickolas and injured another man" The other man, Lee Claridy, Jr., 30, was shot in the stomach.
According to the Tallahassee Democrat, "Nickolas ... was shot and killed after he tried to intervene in a disagreement between Holiday and ... Claridy ... who was dating the mother of Holiday's children."
Three young children were "caught in the line of fire" during the shooting, which took place on Steele Drive. "Investigators found 12 dozen shell casings around the vehicles at the scene," according to the Tallahassee Democrat.
Nickolas's killing is number 16 in Tallahassee this year, which puts the county on pace to surpass the 17 in 2012 and 2014.
