B.o.B starts Flat Earth crowdfunder
What do you get when you combine a rapper with too much time to spare, people with money to throw away, and a conspiracy theory? Apparently, a Go-Fund-Me page to prove that the Earth is flat.
On Sept. 26, 2017, BBC News reported that rapper B.O.B was starting a Go-Fund-Me page to do exactly that. The rapper, whose real name is Bobby Ray, is part of the Flat Earth Society. What is the Flat Earth Society? It is a group of people all over the world who believe one simple thing which is reflected in the group’s name: the Earth is flat.
This idea seems ridiculous to most since the idea of a flat Earth was first debunked hundreds of years ago by Ferdinand Magellan, the first man to circumnavigate the globe. More recent, visual evidence could even come from the International Space Station, which is manned by astronauts who have taken many photos showing the curvature of the planet.
The rapper is trying to fund a satellite to view the Earth for himself by the crowd-funding website Go-Fund-Me. B.o.B has been following the Flat Earth Society for a long period of time. He has even taken to Twitter and ranted about how “Sphere Earther’s” are “brainwashed” by NASA and are being lied to.
As of Oct. 2, 2017, NASA astronauts are posting pictures and selfies from the International Space Station roasting B.o.B saying, “don’t worry, we just saved you a million dollars,” according to Science Alert.
