Hand in Hand charity raises 44 million dollars
On Sept. 9, 2017, Hand in Hand charity hosted a call-a-thon with a drove of A-list celebrities which raised 44 million dollars for hurricane Harvey and Irma victims in the states affected according to ABC News.
In the Florida Keys, so far up to 90 percent of people's homes were destroyed or damaged in the hurricane. In Texas, the damage was put up to 23 billion dollars, according to Fortune Magazine. Adam Smith, a lead federal scientist for natural disasters says that it is “Quite possible” that Harvey surpasses Katrina in damages.
The charity was hosted by a swarm of A-list celebrities such as Justin Beiber, DJ Khalid, Beyoncé, and George Clooney. This main charity is going to benefit lots of smaller charities such as Habitat for Humanity and Feeding Texas, according to the New York Times.
This charity was hosted in the cities of New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville simultaneously across the country.
