CHS celebrates Latino culture month
This October is Latino appreciation month, and CHS Spanish teacher Mrs. Villagrana is hosting an appreciation for Latino cultures here at the school. Meeting after school every Monday and Wednesday, the group of approximately 12 students have been hard at work every week to bring in the second year of Latino appreciation to CHS.
Mrs. Villagrana has been working as a Spanish teacher at CHS for two years now and has done an excellent job of teaching her students. Her goal for her students is to have a place of belonging in her classroom and feel welcome. During the two years she has been here, Mrs. Villagrana has done Latino appreciation month, and this year she is putting it into full effect. The student committee she has put together is helping and learning with her about the culture at the same time.
This year, the committee is hosting a school dance during the second week of October, including three traditional dances. The committee will be decorating each individual hall and areas of the main campus with cultural aspects, such as the arts and artists, history, music, and fauna.
If you would like to be involved in this project, which offers enriching experiences and opportunities, Mrs. Villagrana and the committee are welcoming students of all sorts of backgrounds and cultures. The team putting all of this together meets in Mrs. Villagrana’s room on Mondays and Wednesdays at 3:15 p.m.
