Hurricane Harvey predicted to make landfall this weekend
Hurricane Harvey, which had previously been classified as a tropical storm, is expected to make land fall around late Friday or early Saturday and is expected to be a category three hurricane. ABC News states that the winds may research a speed of 115 mph, the “storm surge” may accumulate to a height of 30 feet, and some places may get 10 to 30 inches of rainfall.
Residents who decided to stay instead of evacuate have boarded up their windows, bought plenty of water, and prepared sandbags for extra protections, according CNN.
According to The New York Times, Gov. John Bel Edwards was told by the weather service that "the hurricane could make land fall in Texas, re-enter the gulf before moving eastward to Louisiana."
