Former Syrupmaker Hoping for Shot at the NFL

Dynamites come in small packages is a statement that is arguably true. Cairo’s very own Paul Davis “PJ” (class of 2013) is a living witness himself. His father Paul and mother “Mama Yo-Yo” are well known around town.

PJ is a very special individual, and he’s a hard worker on and off the field. His character and self-discipline play a big role in who he is. It’s like he plays with a chip on his shoulder to show people that he can compete with the best. Although he might not have the size, he has the heart and work ethic to get to the next level.

Speaking of next level, after making his name well known and breaking records, PJ went on to play for Georgia Tech as a linebacker just like he did in high school. As a sophomore, he led the Yellow Jackets defense with 119 tackles (82 solo, 37 assist); he also had one interception and four sacks, according to footballdb.com. He was named honorable mention ALL-ACC and he was ACC player of the week twice.

Besides his athletic accomplishments, PJ has graduated with a degree. After having a great performance at Tech’s pro-day, he is waiting to see who will give him a shot in the NFL.
