FFA Plant Sale (With Photos)
The Cairo High School FFA club is currently holding a plant sale each afternoon from 3 to 6 pm in the AG department and greenhouse. The sale will end next Friday, March 31, 2017.
The club is selling bedding plants, such as begonia, marigold, coleus, petunia, impatiens, salvia and vinca. They are also selling vegetables, including tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers.
There are two types of hot peppers for sale: cayenne and jalapeno. There are also two types of eggplants: the black beauty and the shoya long. They’re also selling five different types of tomatoes, including the Amelia, which is disease resistant.
The price of a four pack is two dollars, and a six pack is three dollars. A whole tray costs fifteen dollars.
According to Mr. Clark, who sponsors FFA and teaches AG, “We’ve been having the plant sale for forever, around 30 to 40 years.” Mr. Clark also explained that these specific plants were being sold because they are what have always been sold and are popular in the area.
On Tuesday, the CHS Photography Club took a trip down to the greenhouse and took the following shots.
