Movie Preview: 'Kong: Skull Island'

“Kong: Skull Island” is an upcoming action-packed film that is based on a fictional monstrous gorilla that lives on a remote island in the southern Pacific Ocean. The film will be released on March 10, 2017.

“Kong: Skull Island” is the second film in the new Monster Verse media franchise, which began with the 2014 film “Godzilla,” which will receive its own sequel, “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” in 2019, and will eventually lead up to a 2020 film, “Godzilla vs. Kong,” in which the two epic monsters will battle.

The film will feature many well-known actors, including Samuel L. Jackson and John Goodman, as will as Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki in the “Thor” films, Brie Larson, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2015’s “Room,” and John C. Reilly, who is known for acting in comedies such as “Talladega Nights” and “Stepbrothers.”

The movie’s director, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, isn’t known for any major films, but his first film, “The Kings of Summer” was very popular at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

The movie will be rated PG-13 and will be available in IMAX 3D, as well as regular 2D formats. The nearest 3D IMAX Theater is located in Tallahassee, Florida.
