'The Lion King' Live-Action Movie Cast and Update
"The Lion King" is a 1994 animated musical film. It was released on June 15, 1994, and quickly received positive reactions from critics for its music and story. The film won two Academy Awards and was made into a popular musical three years later. The film also received its own television series and was released in 3-D in 2011.
Now director Jon Favreau has decided to come out with a new "The Lion King" live adaptation. Favreau is known for directing the Marvel films "Iron Man" and "The Avengers," as well as last year's live adaptation of "The Jungle Book."
Donald Glover has been cast as Simba
The public first heard about this new remake when the director, Jon Favreau, tweeted a picture of Glover and stated, "I just cant wait to be king." Disney later confirmed the casting news.
Glover has a very busy filming schedule right now, as he is also working on the new standalone "Star Wars" Han Solo film (as Lando Calrissian), as well as the new "Spiderman: Homecoming" film.
The release date for the new film hasn't yet been released.
