BCS Championship 2017: Rematch of #1 and #2
On January 16, 2017, the Clemson Tigers took on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the BCS Championship. Both of the teams were in the same position just a year ago, when the Tigers came up short as the Crimson Tide won 45-40.
The tables turned this time around, as the Tigers attacked the "Elephant" a little differently. According to Sports Illustrated, the media day horde listened in as Clemson’s head coach Debo Swinney told them how to eat an elephant. “ONE BITE AT A TIME,” he said “ONE BITE AT A TIME.”
The Tigers MVP quarterback Deshaun Watson had a “RING TOSS” performance, according to the magazine. Watson threw for 420 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score, before soaking in the win with Coach Swinney.
Although they went in as underdogs, the Tigers came out victorious in their 35-31 turnaround win. Wide receiver Hunter Renfrow also played a big role in the Tigers’ success through the air.
