Indonesian Earthquake Kills Over 100

Rescuers are still searching for survivors after a deadly earthquake killed nearly 100 people early Wednesday morning in Indonesia's Aceh province.

According to Indonesia's Disaster Management and Mitigation Agency, the earthquake killed 102 Indonesians, including children, and injured 136 others seriously.

The earthquake, measuring 6.5 in magnitude on the Richter Scale, severely damaged homes, shops, and mosques in the District of Pidie Jaya and destroyed many structures.

According to CNN.com, other medical personnel went to the region after the hospital of Pidie Jaya was damaged by the earthquake just as residents were getting ready to say their early morning prayers.

Also, spokesman for the National Board for Disaster Management Sutopo Purwo Nugroho stated the death toll could still rise.
