Where Is Our Patriotism? Coach Stages Protest Against the National Anthem (Editorial)
Patriotism: an emotional attachment to a nation which an individual recognizes as their homeland.
Is that all patriotism is though? No. That is a definition that is far too technical and, quite frankly, weak to be used for such a strong word such as patriotism.
Patriotism fuels our military. Patriotism fueled the Civil War, World War I, World war II, and many other battles this country has faced. But what do we do with all the blood, sweat, and tears that our most famous patriots shed for the sake of our beautiful country? We throw away their dreams, accomplishments, and their hard work into a rubbish bin, along with all the other lost dreams of our nation.
I read in the Tallahassee Democrat, on the spanking FRONT PAGE, that a coach influenced his players to take a knee during the National Anthem. I can not, WILL NOT stand for that. This man, Coach Stanley, is a sad, misguided soul who didn't learn from his ancestors about the true meaning of patriotism. If it was only him I wouldn't be writing this, but as I look through the pictures, I see his players, middle school level children, kneeling
right there next to him because the authority figure in their lives set the example and that is not okay.
People died in the name of patriotism, our Constitution was written by men who overflowed with pure patriotism for Christ's sake! They put their life on the line for this country, and it is not okay to throw it away in the name of a false sense of racism!
