Student Found Shot to Death at a Riverdale Home
Clayton County authorities are investigating the death of 17 year-old Cedric Clark, a high school student and football player at Drew High School. So far, police have several leads, but no arrests have been made. Clark, who was just weeks away from his 18th birthday, was also involved with the school’s ROTC program.
According to police, Clark was shot and killed about a mile from his home; his body was found in the backyard of a Riverdale home. The shooting provoked officials to put the high school under lockdown.
Clark was last seen by his family on a Tuesday evening, when his friend came to the home and asked him if they could go for a walk. His friend came later that day and asked where Clark was, and then Clark’s family got worried and went to look for him. His body was not located until the next day.
The Riverdale resident spotted the body in her backyard early that Wednesday morning around 8 a.m. and called 911. Clayton County High school remained on soft lockdown on Wednesday while the investigators looked through the area. The school planned to have distress counselors for the students.
