6-Year-Old Writes Letter to the President, Asks for Refugee Child to Be His "New Brother"
A little boy Named Alex, who is only six years old and from New York, wrote a letter to President Obama. The letter was so moving Obama had to bring attention to it.
This all started when Alex saw pictures of a Syrian boy, Omran Daqneesh, who was picked up in an ambulance. The boy was covered in blood and dust after being caught in an airstrike in Aleppo. Alex wanted Omran to come live with him and his family and be his new brother.
The letter was also sent to the Leaders' Summit on the Global Refugee Crisis. Then, on Wednesday, Obama released a video of Alex reading his letter in his home. Obama has also used the letter to convince people to be more welcoming to refugees.
Obama has said, " Those are the words of a six year old - a young child who has not learned to be cynical or suspicious or fearful of other people because of where they come from, how they look, or how they pray."
