Book Review: The Siren

The siren is a book full of mystical power and very intense, especially in the beginning. A lot of books are very hard to start reading because it takes so long for you to get pulled in but with this book leaves you thirsty for more in the very beginning.

This book is about a young girl named Kahlen being pulled into a new life after her parents and family were drowned by sirens to feed the ocean. Kahlen was given the opportunity to die or become a siren as well. for 100 years she was supposed to sink ships like the sisters before her and her only parent figure was the ocean. About 80 years into her sentence she met a human boy named Akinili. Kahlen seems to find herself in love but, its against the rules. The ocean gives her 50 more years for her disobedience. I'm not going to say the entire plot but lets just say, that's only a little bit of information I gave you. This book is full unconditional love and shows that anyone can change their destiny even if mother nature herself has you at her disposal.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 for its creativity and making it impossible to put down. If you are looking for a new book to read and are interested this book is in in the Cairo High School library.
